Description: This man underwent functional nasal surgery to improve his breathing. Surgery included a septoplasty, turbinectomy, and placement of a graft taken from the septal cartilage inside the nose to the left lower side of the nose to provide more support. The graft does not cause any change in the appearance of the nose and is placed through a small incision inside the nose with dissolvable stitches. The surgery does not require any cast or external stitches. There is minimal swelling or bruising immediately after the surgery.

Details:

On base view, there is no change on the nose. There is no bulging on the left side to indicate there is a cartilage graft.
Before the surgery, with deep breathing, the left side of the nose has some collapse which narrows the breathing passage. After surgery with maximal inspiration, the left side of the nose no longer collapses in.
