This woman wanted to improve the area under her neck and the jowls. She underwent a facelift with surgery under the chin as well (liposuction and platysmaplasty to address the muscle bands under the chin).

Note the smoother appearance to the upper neck area.
At about 6 weeks after surgery, there is improvement in the neck line. The incisions around the ear are healing well. Note that the tuft of hair in front of the upper ear is preserved. Sometimes a telltale sign that a person has had a facelift is the loss off hair in this area.
