Hearing Aids

The goal of hearing aids is to restore quality of life by bringing hearing back to its highest potential.   Unfortunately it is not as simple as ordering a product from an internet store.  The process includes:

  • MEDICAL EVALUATION  All patients will have a comprehensive ear, nose, and throat exam to ensure that there are no medical contraindications to using a hearing aid or if there are medical conditions that needs to be addressed.  Ear symptoms such as hearing loss and ringing in the ear can be related to other medical issues, medications, specific ear diseases, etc…  Dr. Liu reviews all hearing tests that are performed in the office.
  • MANUFACTURER SELECTION
We represent most major brands and not limited to any one manufacturer.  Omni, Starkey, Phonak, ReSound, Seimens, Oticon, Unitron, and Widex are a sampling of the brand names we provide.
  • STYLE  SELECTION
The size of the hearing instrument selected is usually a personal decision. All styles of hearing instruments are available including: Behind-The-Ear (BTE), In-The-Ear (ITE), In-The-Canal (ITC), the tiny Completely-In-The-Canal, and the extremely popular and practically invisible Open Ear Technology.
  • CIRCUITRY SELECTION
The level of technology to consider is often determined by lifestyle, severity of the hearing impairment and budget. We offer a full array of circuitry selection including the newest and most technically advanced digital hearing instruments with directional microphones, and voice tracking algorithms.
  • CONSULTATION
It is very important that every patient be fully informed throughout the decision making process. All questions and concerns are addressed thoroughly, with candor, patience, care, and professionalism.
  • FITTINGS
All hearing instrument fittings are done in a professional and caring manner. All hearing instruments come with a full thirty-day money back guarantee. Please understand that the hearing instrument is only one part of the rehabilitative process. It is our pledge to do everything possible to assure years of hearing enjoyment.

Today’s hearing instruments are tiny computers that vary greatly in their capabilities to manage the world of sound. As in all aspects of life, digital technology has revolutionized hearing aids.  In general, the more sophisticated the technology the less compromise there is in finding the most comfortable and appropriate hearing solution. The result of this is often but not always a more satisfied user. The price of hearing instruments is not dependent on the size or how it looks. The price is directly related to the technology level of the computer chip and the software that it uses. It is the software which allows the audiologist to fine tune the aid and make adjustments to the hearing instrument. Hearing instruments should last five years or more and can be adjusted along the way as the hearing changes.

Hearing has a subjective quality.  The exact same hearing aid fitted for 10 patients with the identical hearing tests may “sound and feel” different to each user.  That is the reason why follow up and adjustments are an integral part of the whole process.  The more advanced software designs allow the audiologist to fine tune the hearing aids more than ever before.

Our Certified Audiologists are very helpful in helping you choose which product and model will best work for your life style and budget.
